The New Ventures team was formed in 2022 to grow the number of high value Washington University intellectual property startups. By working directly with the university’s research community, New Ventures helps in navigating the process of launching a startup. The team engages with WashU faculty innovators and entrepreneurs by connecting them to tools, investors and mentors to catalyze startups as they launch and scale their companies based on WashU intellectual property.
The New Ventures team supports company formation with:
- Business case creation: New Ventures helps with the formulation and refinement of a value proposition and pitch deck structure.
- Entrepreneurship education and coaching for the research community.
- Preparing nascent startup teams to engage with investors by identifying and making introductions to relevant investors
- Working to grow a broad and diverse investor community, and communicating opportunities for investment through a quarterly newsletter.

Office Hours
OTM Office Hours is an in-person program series hosted by the New Ventures team that features current topics in tech transfer and innovation. Previous Office Hours events have covered topics such as: Intellectual Property 101, Funding, Career Options for a PhD, etc. Office Hours are typically held the second Thursday of the month and are open to all.
