Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs)
An MTA is a contract that governs the transfer of tangible research materials between two organizations. MTAs set out the protections, rights, and obligations of both parties.
Inventions and Licensing
Under Washington University’s Intellectual Property policy, creators are required to disclose to OTM inventions made using significant University resources and/or pursuant to a research project funded through corporate, federal or other external sponsors.
Quick Start License
The Quick Start License is a new initiative provided through OTM to foster the formation of new startup companies based on technologies created at Washington University.
Copyrightable works such as mobile apps developed using federal or private funds that are to be published should be disclosed to OTM using the Software Disclosure form.
OTM also handles other agreements in its promotion of technology transfer including confidential disclosure agreements (CDAs) and Inter-institutional Agreements (IIAs). OTM does not participate in consulting agreements.
Washington University is committed to the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies and guidelines that promote the compliant, ethical, and responsible design, conduct, reporting, and reviewing of research in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and sponsoring agency policies and procedures.
