OTM Internship Program

OTM offers internship opportunities for students and post-doctoral trainees. OTM internships enable participants to apply their educational experience in a particular subset of OTM’s technology transfer activities while gaining valuable insight and experience in the technology transfer process.

OTM Internship Program

Our Internship Program offers current students and post-doctoral trainees the opportunity to work with the OTM’s business development team and identify potential partnerships for product development.  Typical projects include assessing the commercial viability of new inventions, identifying potential licensees or investors, developing marketing materials, and analysis of patent literature.  To apply, click here.

Eligibility

The OTM Internship Program is open to:

  • Current students seeking degrees in clinical, scientific, technical, and business disciplines (Ex. the life sciences, engineering, chemistry, computer science, and business)
  • Current post-doctoral trainees

Qualifications

Candidates are evaluated by:

  • Strong scientific or technical background
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to take on new challenges
  • Demonstrated interest in technology transfer
  • Commitment and availability for 10 hours per week (for a minimum of six months)
  • Consent from Washington University adviser or supervisor*

*Required for doctoral graduate students

Internship Details

  • All candidates will participate in an initial training session prior to the start of the internship
  • Hours: Up to 10 hours per week for a six-month period
  • Compensation: $12 per hour
  • OTM office space is provided for all interns as needed
